In Defense of the Femme (Eva’s Intro) 

I love Television. I love all kinds of TV from HBO to the CW. As a feminist sometimes it is difficult me to enjoy mainstream media because of the often blatant sexism (And racism and ageism and heterosexism) but this also gives me a mission to find Television and Books, films and song which are female positive, and when I find something usually it’s really fucking awesome. As a girl I find myself being subjected to all kinds of unwanted comments on my appearance and actions (I’ve been getting cat-called since I was 12 and have been getting all kinds of comments on my breasts since I was about 14) and I have this in common with almost every female public figure out there.

From charming comments on what they wear, to how their voices sound, it is absolutely disgusting how the media treats women. So I want to challenge this, I want to challenge the idea that it’s okay to call female celebrities ‘sluts’ because they dared to wear a low cut top or fish nets. I want to bring to light female positive shows which are wonderful and inspiring (I will be posting a lot of this) I also am huge on spreading girl love, I am hurt and aghast often at the level of hatred for my own gender by my fellow ladies I often see, (tumblr you are terrible with this problem) so let’s smash that, let’s spread the idea of love and acceptance let’s smash judgment and nastiness. Let’s Riot not Diet.
